The 2023 Music and Merriment Concert will be a joyous community Christmas Concert on 2 December 2023 at St Mary's Church Winkfield, starting at 7:30pm. It will present great Christmas entertainment for all — a wonderful way to start the Christmas season!
This is the home page for everybody involved with making the concert happen, as well as for would-be audience members. There is a button above [2022 Concert Handout] that shows the range of what we did last year. This years handout is almost ready.
This year we have a great programme, with solos from two brilliant teenager, Sarah, concert violinist, and Darcey, singing, playing the piano and later, the marimba. There will be a virtuoso Christmassy organ solo from Henry. All this on top of junior and adult choirs, readings, handbells brass quintet, and lots more.
There is a fuller description of the Concert using the [Music and Merriment button].
You will have a copy of the concert handout when you arrive - but use the button above to have a quick look.
Online concert tickets are available HERE. Adult tickets are £14, and 13s-and-under can have concession tickets at £7. Note that all performers enter free, and, for members of the Junior Choir, one parent can have a ticket at the concession price of £7.
Online ticket sales will not be available after 5pm on Friday 1 December.
Tickets can also be purchased (card or cash) at the door of St Mary's church before the concert on 2/12/23.
Music and Merriment is a big annual community Concert in St Mary’ church Winkfield. It is a fund-raiser for the fabric and facilities of the church as a community asset.
This year it is being held at 7:30 pm on Saturday 2 December. It offers a full evening of entertainment for everybody, with adult and children’s choirs, festive readings, audience carols, handbells and instrumentalists, and more.
Our performers are people from our area: local singers, adult and children, local musicians, and other talented performers. In each concert we also have included performances by two very talented young musicians, as well as by excellent adult musicians. The young star performers this year are Sarah, violinist, who will be familiar to regular attendees of the Concert, and also multi-talented Darcey, who sings, plays the piano amazingly, and is also a percussionist. This year, she will be bringing her marimba, which is like a supercharged xylophone.
The church is located on Church Road in the rural village of Winkfield, opposite the White Hart pub. It has a forecourt for limited parking. You can look at a map of the area by pressing the [Church location] button above. The postcode to be used for satnavs is SL4 4SF.
There is substantial off-road parking; roadside parking is unrestricted, and customers of the White Hart pub oppposite the church can park in the pub's carpark (strictly for patrons only!).
The concert is run as a fund-raising project by the Friends of St Mary's Winkfield. All proceeds go to the maintenance and the running of St Mary's church as a community asset.
